The Dauntless Tactical “Intro to Rifle/AR-15" is a Half-Day Live Fire Seminar that works to establish the student with the basic fundamentals of safe weapons handling, effective deployment, and targeting skills with the semi-automatic, shoulder fired Rifle or Carbine, with special emphasis primarily on the AR-l5 type rifle platform.
Considerable emphasis will be placed on familiarization with the AR-15 systems design, and the building of tactile muscle memory as the foundation of tactical & defensive proficiency. The seminar will consist of approximately 1 hour of classroom instruction on firearm safety, firearm operation, sling use and adjustment, sight adjustment, and the mental and physiological aspects of marksmanship.
Classroom instruction will be followed by 4 hours of progressively challenging skill building exercises on the Live Fire Range that may involve a variety of shooting positions, distances, and situational nuance. Training drills for this seminar will primarily originate from the standing position and are designed to develop and balance both speed and accuracy.
Upon completion of this course the student will have a thorough understanding of firearm safety, use of optics and iron sights, concepts of height over bore, point of aim versus point of impact, basic carbine adjustment, grip, weapons manipulation (switches, buttons, and controls), trigger control, shooting with both eyes open, and an ability to effectively engage targets at distances up to 100 yards from the prone, standing, and squatting positions. Ultimately, the student will be able to operate the controls of the AR-15 confidently by touch alone.
