In some progressive minded political jurisdictions, politicians have come to the realization that it makes practical sense to give students and teachers a fighting chance by empowering the administrators of schools to arm themselves, and to select other teachers and staff to be trained and armed as well, after they've all undergone enhanced firearms training, in order to put an immediate stop to the active mass killer.
Dauntless Tactical Training, Inc. has developed a rigorous training program for Non-Traditional Threat Mitigators such as teachers and principals, that is built upon United States Special Forces marksmanship and training standards know as the Tier-1 SF Standard. The Tier-1 SF Standard is the highest level of firearms training, and our Instructors are Tier-1 Certified Instructors, having been certified by members of the US Army's Delta Force, the most elite of all the special forces units, and the Army's Marksmanship Unit. Just as in our Church Protection Training Program, we issue school administrators, staff, and teachers who successfully complete our rigorous 120 hour threat mitigation training curricula, the Certified Tier-1 Civilian School Threat Mitigator™ designation.
UNCOMPROMISED Training Standards
Protection Based on The Most Rigorous Standard of Training: TIER ONE SF
Effective Threat Mitigation™ is built upon a completely different skillset than required for executive or dignitary protection, and even law enforcement and policing, as the purpose of Threat Mitigation is to protect the SPACE AND the MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE WITHIN IT, not just one or two Priniciple/High Value assets, or the apprehension of a suspected criminal. Like a SWAT team, It requires that the threat mitigator be able to DOMINATE the attacked or invaded space, and take it back, if need be. This mission imperative requires a very specific set of high level firearms, tactical, and combat related skills.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE, YOU ASK? In dignitary protection, you MOVE, or fight to move, the target or protected asset, i.e. the Primary, to safety. And, while policing, police officers and sheriff's deputies use the threat of arrest, backed by close contact force, to force compliance, or to defend themselves primarily from attack at short distance. The skills needed to accomplish either of these routine goals are limited and rudimentary in nature, in contrast to the skillset needed for active threat mitigation.
But, in threat mitigation, one must intentionally, and intensively, AGGRESS the threat actor, i.e. the attacker, violently to CREATE SAFETY, because EVERYONE is the potential target, and the attacker cannot be afforded to be left unachallenged with force, lest he kill and murder with impunity.
There is NO OTHER FOCUS than that, except that this task must be carried out while also ensuring the safety of everyone else in the threat environment. You must neutralize or kill the attacker(s) without harming anyone else. That IS THE STANDARD. We call that, the ability to make The The Cross-Campus Shot,™ and Cross-Sanctuary Shot.™
Due to the serious and dynamic nature of protecting innocent lives in crowded spaces, long halls, or expansive auditoriums, libraries, gymnasiums, or cafeterias, we can take no chances on issuing a Tier-1 Civilian Threat Mitigator™ Certification to anyone who hasn't completed the entire course of training that we provide Non-Traditional Threat Mitigators like principals, teachers, coaches, guidance counselors, building and maintenance engineers, or school janitors and custodians.
THEREFORE, WE CAN TAKE NO PRIOR SKILLS OR TRAINING FOR GRANTED, NOT EVEN MILITARY, POLICE OR LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING, UNLESS WE CAN CLASSIFY IT AS HAVING BEEN AT THE TIER ONE LEVEL. Even then, the student must be evaluated, and drilled with rigor.
We WILL build every school threat mitigator from the ground up. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Why such a rigorous and hard-nosed stance? Because the stakes are too high, and the crowd density potentially too great to presume proficiency.
WE ARE GOING TO BUILD PROFICIENCY, MEASURE IT, EXPAND IT, ENHANCE IT, STRETCH IT, TEST IT, and PERFECT IT. Only then will we CERTIFY someone as a Certified Tier-1 Civilian School Threat Mitigator.™
TRAINING OVERVIEW: PREPARING TO STOP THE THREAT IMMEDIATELY
5 Week School Threat Mitigator Dynamic Protector Core Training Module
*Defending students in schools requires the HIGHEST STANDARD OF CARE. Thus, this is the only level of training that we will offer to defenders of students and school campuses. We will offer nothing less that the comprehensive.
This 120 hr/15-Day course is a MODULAR COMPREHENSIVE, & is for the SCHOOL DEFENDER in states where the law allows Administrators, Teachers, & Staff with ENHANCED tactical training to protect students from the mass shooter on campus.
Although this is a comprehensive, the focus of the FIVE Session 2-day & 3-day training modules will be on establishing brilliance in aggressive school defense with the handgun. Trainees will learn to safely neutralize & defend against an attacker with both speed and accuracy from distances common to school halls, cafeterias, auditoriums, gymnasiums, & in close quarters, while using cover, and/or clearing rooms, and will become proficient at making the Cross-Campus Shot™ on demand while under pressure and stress.

The Non-Traditional School Threat Mitigator will learn and develop Brilliant marksmanship skills, such as to be able to make precision shots with the semi-automatic pistol/handgun from great distances, and under acute stress. This training shall be the basis of performing the Cross-Campus Shot™ on demand, with either hand and under difficult circumstances. It will help establish the mitigator as the owner of the hallways and the stairs.

A Threat Mitigator must be able to make the Cross-campus Shot™ while he/she is on the move and simultaneously engaging a moving active shooter through a crowd of terrified students, without harming any of the students or teacher between the mitigator and the threat actor, or anyone behind the attacker. Instruction within these modules will ensure the conveyance, transference and assimilation of these and other tactical skills.

The threat Mitigator will continue to learn and establish Brilliant skills with the handgun, as well as gain Tier-1 weapons manipulation skills with the handgun, along with marksmanship, manipulation, and movement skills with both the handgun and with the tactical defensive pistol or rifle caliber carbine. Mitigators will learn to aggressively engage attackers from elevation, dynamic shooting positions, and from behind barriers and positions of cover.

The Threat Mitigator will develop weapons retention skills, disarmament skills, and acquire the ability to turn an attacker's weapon back against himself, as well as learn to pick up an attacker's weapon, problem solve it, and, if necessary, use it to engage other potential attackers with equal or greater firepower than they have brought to bear in the initial attack.

The Threat Mitigator will learn techniques that will empower him/her to safely move against and through the crowd in a stampeding environment in order to engage a threat actor with lethal force, without losing his/her firearm, flagging or muzzling fleeing students, or having a negligent discharge of their weapon in the process.
